Chocolate Concrete Cake


A school time classic revisited! You know you loved it when you were at school and now you can bake it at home any time. When I was at school they served it with mint custard!



250g butter
250g golden caster sugar 1 large egg
170g plain flour
179g self raising flour

60g cocoa powder

30-40ml milk


Here’s how:

Mix together the butter and sugar until soft, light and fluffy. Stir in the egg.
Sieve in both flours and the cocoa powder.
Mix together, then add the milk

Transfer the mixture into a non stick brownie tray and bake in a pre heated oven 160c for 30-40 minutes.

You can also add different flavours to this recipe. Try orange zest, coffee powder or crushed hazelnuts.
